What's interesting is that neither he nor the liberals seem to get that. Of course, he also lied about cutting taxes in his '92 campaign. He excoriated Bush41 for "the largest tax hike in history" and then push Congress to raise taxes. And his liberal supporters said, "Well, of course! He HAD to lie about that to get elected."
Lying doesn't count if you're a liberal.
I was reading J.C. Watts' autobiography, "What Color Is a Conservative" and he discussed his thinking at the time of the impeachment vote. He addresses the "all about sex" argument and points out that the lie was not about sex, but about lying in the course of a legal proceeding concerning someone's civil rights being violated by sexual harassment. As I recall, he notes that if the civil rights proceeding had been based on race rather than gender, no one would question the impeachment decision.
