Bush to swing back at Democrats

U.S. President George W. Bush will use a Veterans Day speech on Friday to fight back against Democratic charges that the White House misused intelligence to gain support for the Iraq war, administration officials said.

"The president is going to directly take on the false attacks that Democratic leaders have been making," a senior administration official told Reuters.

Democrats in recent weeks have been accusing the White House of manipulating intelligence on Iraq and leaking classified information to discredit critics of the war.

Lewis "Scooter" Libby, a top aide to Vice President Dick Cheney, was indicted last month for obstructing justice, perjury and lying after a two-year investigation into the leak of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity.

Opinion polls show Bush's approval ratings sinking as the public becomes increasingly wary of the Iraq war.

Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada said on Thursday Democrats were insisting that Americans "get the truth about why the White House cherry-picked and leaked intelligence to sell the war in Iraq."

He added: "The president may think this matter can be swept under the rug or pardoned away, but Democrats know America can do better."

He should be out there at least every-other day pointing out the Dem misinformation and reaffirming his position.

He needs to repeat over and over everyday why we are fighting in Iraq and why the Dems are lying.

Unfortunately if people are not beaten over the head with this information everyday, they forget. That is why the Dems BS sticks in peoples' minds ... its repeated everyday 24/7 on TV, radio, etc...

Of course it will. Because there were WMDs in Iraq, Saddam was trying to buy uranium from Nigeria and he did help Al Queda attack the US on Sept. 11.

The general public has no idea that they have been saved from some serious attacks by terrorists using the above material right here in the US. Its time for the President to let the people know and while he's at it he needs to peg the news media for not adequately reporting it...

I'll believe it when I see it. We've been told this before.

And much as I love this president, I am terribly disappointed that he has permitted the lies of the left to stand as long as he has. Those lies have severely reduced support for the war and almost definitely as a result, morale of the troops. That's darned near unforgivable.

Big deal. A year late isn't going to help much. Why aren't the republicans in congress pushing the democrats away from the cameras and standing up for the President? It seems we have only one party in congress and it ain't republican! Every news cast on radio or tv features a democrat with not a republican in sight...where are they?
