Sorry to hear about your pictures....I do think WalMart is cheap etc., often shoddy etc., but I do think they serve a purpose...but, I can't argue that the products and service are often not first class....

Do a little research...

Then tell me what date/time of the year the birth of Christ was celebrated by the early Catholic Church PRIOR to the adaption of the pagan Yule celebration.

"Being an audio buff, I would NOT purchase any HTIB (Home Theater In a Box) system from Wal-Mart, BB, CC or anywhere. "

Maybe that should be "Being an audio buff, I would NOT purchase any HTIB (Home Theater In a Box) system!" ;-)

What kind of speakers/system do you have? I am currently have Harmon Kardon 7.1 amp and Klipsch speakers. Ever hear Krell components or McIntosh? Awesome stuff just too expenive for my blood.

Basically if the product is a lemon, it will fail while it is still under the manufacturer's warranty. If it gets through the first 90 days, it's pretty likely it will give you years of reliable service after that.

I agree completely, with one exception. The one product that I sometimes recommend to friends that they get an extended warranty for is a notebook computer, especially if they're getting it for one of their kids, e.g. a teenage boy in college. In that scenario the odds of a problem or failure increase significantly.

I will go to the one who wishes me A MERRY CHRISTMAS INSTEAD OF HAPPY HOLIDAYS

I once bought from someone solely because his sign read "Blessed Christmas".

I'll bet you a 6-pack of the beverage of your choice you can't go into WalMart and find 50 different products for sale that have the word Christmas in it.

Send me the SKUs and it's yours.

If you find me 50 in the Christmas decoration dept. I'll upgrade you to a $25 gift certificate at WalMart ;-)

Bentonville is a really nice place to live!

If Best Buy and Circuit City want to compete, they should try using the word "Christmas" in all their promotions for the next six weeks.

I'm sure the boycotters will throw a few dollars their way.

If it did in fact come from someone at the WalMart PR department, and I have yet to see anything to prove that it did, then it was a boneheaded thing to do and the idiot that sent it should be fired.

With that said, judging from their in store displays and their website, the very last thing on earth WalMart is doing is dissing Christmas.

But, what the heck, if you wish to be offended and not shop there, that is your choice. The other shoppers at your local WalMart will probably be thrilled there are less people in the store while they are doing their Christmas shopping. I know I would be.

You just confirmed what I always thought; their purpose is to sell you cheap, shoddy products..

(selling Wicca and other pagan-type stuff, and NOW-- banning the sale of anything that has that EVIL, SICK, IMMORAL WORD in it--"CHRISTMAS", ) I, nor my family will be going there much.

Are you out of your mind? You obviously HAVEN'T been in ANY WalMarts recently. It's Christmas ALL OVER THE PLACE and if you go to their website, do a search for Christmas. There's only like 7900 items there....

For those who think the extended warranties are "peace-of-mind", consider how many electronic devices you have purchased over the years and how many have gone bad for you. I can guarantee that the extended warranties would have costed significantly more in the long run even the cost of replacing what, if any, electronic devices failed for you over the years.

If I've bought and returned a product because I didn't like the way it worked, I'll sometimes buy one of those warranty things on whatever other product I end up buying instead. If it takes me two returns before I find a product I like, I'll usually buy the warranty on the third. I figure that if I'm costing the retailer something by my return, it's probably fair (and good karma) to give them something back.

I have used one warranty service plan--on a Packard Bell 14" monitor. I actually had thought I had bought a service plan on the DVD player that went bad, but it turned out I hadn't (bummer). Too bad on that one--I liked it in some ways better than its replacement.

My definition of "cheap" and the definition of the WalMart haters are 2 entirely different things. When I say cheap, I mean less expenseive - they do not.

But it's funny, they will pay $10 more for an identical item somewhere else and claim I'm supporting the chi-coms by buying at WM.........even though thier identical item was made in the identical place as mine.

I picked up on the GE bit only because it has been one of my favorite "tales to tell" on these WM bashing threads. I needed to replace my mixer and purchased a GE stand mixer. It's GE for crying out loud....right? So I didn't bother looking at where it was made. I was replacing one GE mixer with another. Lo and behold there was a WM bashing thread on FR that day (it was a Saturday which is usually when these threads occur) so I went and looked at it. You guessed it, right there on the box it stated Made in China.

Is that the fault of WalMart? Heck no. Am I supporting the chi-coms by purchasing a GE product? I don't think so.

I agree with you and the other posters on the extended warranties - total waste of money.

**But Wal-Mart tells WorldNetDaily it has "absolutely not" banned Christmas, but is just "trying to serve all our customers for the holiday season."**

If they have any items for Jewish or Islamic seasonal observances, I would think that sentence entirely reasonable.

Note also that things like candy-cane lights, inflatable snowmen, and the like may be reasonably described as "holiday decorations" even though they're not really "Christmas decorations". Having a "Holidays" section which includes both Christmas-related merchandise and seasonal merchandise thus seems quite reasonable and sensible.

It's not just electronics. They seem to have Michael's, the arts and crafts store, in their sights, too. When the new Superstore opened in Tempe, one part of it was practically a clone of the local Michael's store.

Good for you!!!!

I'm never shy about expressing my dissatisfaction when I'm paying for a product or service.

My husband is pretty good with general maintenance on our vehicles, but when new tires ar needed, he wants them mounted and balanced properly. And he also wants a reasonable price on the whole deal. Neither WalMart's price or service could be beat when he replaced the tires on his truck recently. He used to go to Sam's Club, but since we don't have one anywhere near us we let our membership lapse, but considering they are the same company.........
