How realistic is it was it for the junior senator not to know howe many people he alienated by NOT supporting Toomey? IAC, he needs to go full bore to win them back. His argument must be that Casey WILL vote down the line with a very liberal party, or be treated like a pariah as his father was.

Of course he knew. I think he overestimated how many people would understand that he had no choice in the matter. You don't have success in politics while trying to unseat senior members of your own party.

People don't want to live in reality and want to punish Rick for doing what he had to do.

IAC, he needs to go full bore to win them back. His argument must be that Casey WILL vote down the line with a very liberal party, or be treated like a pariah as his father was.

Of course he needs to win them back. But they have to start seeing things more clearly. Put themselves in Rick's shoes and honestly look at his choices. If he had bucked Bush and Specter, and Specter still won, he would be a pariah in the Senate and in his party.
