She really does not understand Free Republic if she believes the "lockstep" notion. Interestingly I cannot recall seeing any Internet discussion group of any political ideology that was in "lockstep".

Visit DU and you will see lots of arguments about both big picture and details on any issue. The same is true for any Usenet political group.
