this does it for me - never will I vote Republican again - I am totally embarrassed i voted for them this time with this Anwar fiasco - I am pissed. These idiot Republican Senators call the oil companies into question about profits - these blowhard bastards....Oil companies make a profit of 10%, roughly .25 per gallon, while government makes more, MUCH more from taxing every gallon...who the hell are they to question a private companies profits when they are perfectly happy taxing the American people into the ground on every gallon and making more $$$$ than the oil companies that run the business. Government has prevented the building of new refineries (which is why we have the oil "bottleneck" we have), they have prevented drilling in the Eastern Gulf as well as innumerable other places, and now Anwar. The party PRIMARILY responsible for our dependence on foreign oil is the GOVERNMENT, yet they question and cast blame on oil companies when the price is set in the WORLD markets...screw the republicans - it seems these guys in the Senate are so stupid as to not even know basic economics - how these jackasses get elected is beyond me, but I for one, will NEVER vote for another repub - they are a total embarrassment....and I have been a republican for my entire life - this is the last frickin' straw..give these guys the Senate, the Congress and the White House, and they haven't done squat......screw 'em....

Man, I hear you. I feel like all that stress of hoping and praying that they get elected and reelected was for nothing.

PukinDog, I sure hope you're right about what you've said.

"this does it for me - never will I vote Republican again - I am totally embarrassed i voted for them this time with this Anwar fiasco - I am pissed."

" These idiot Republican Senators call the oil companies into question about profits - these blowhard bastards"

Please. Pay attention!
It was the DEMOCRATS who called the oil execs on the carpet then turned around and voted against ANWR. It is Republicans like Ted Stevens standing up for common sense here.
Sen Boxer, Dem socialist from Cali, tried to lecture the oil execs, ran over time, got shot down by sen stevens, then had a little temper tantrum to speak further ill of free enterprise. That was this week. It happens every week.

We would be drilling in ANWR *now* if the Democrats and their special interests werent against it. The shame is how they peeled off a few northeast RINOs.

"The party PRIMARILY responsible for our dependence on foreign oil is the GOVERNMENT, yet they question and cast blame on oil companies when the price is set in the WORLD markets..."

Absolutely... but you should be saying "screw the democrats and the RINOs" because THEY are the guilty parties. Dont cast blame on the blameless...

"how these jackasses get elected is beyond me"

Silly comment.... Dont you think Kennedy Clinton and Schumer are jackasses? How do THEY get elected?

" but I for one, will NEVER vote for another repub"

Why not? Most Republicans are doing the right thing here.
100% of Democrats and 10% of Republicans are doing the wrong thing. YOU ARE BLAMING THE WRONG PEOPLE.

"they are a total embarrassment"

No, RINOs and Democrats are an embarrassment.

"....and I have been a republican for my entire life"

Dittos, and when I see that 90% of Republicans are FOR ANWR drilling and 90% of Democrats are AGAINST ANWR drilling, it is clear to me:
- The democrats are beholden to the eco-extremists and will harm our national security, our energy future, and our trade balance to grovel to that special interest
- The Republican are mostly trying to do the right thing, despite a biased media that attacks them constantly and despite DC 'kultursmog' that make conservatism a brave stance in the Federal city, and despite UNGRATEFUL 'conservatives' who do little but complain a lot when things go wrong

" - this is the last frickin' straw"

What an inane comment. As a cosnervative, I've had too many 'last straws' to count: Bush 41's tax increase; 'losing' the 1995 budget showdown battle; mccain-fiengold passing. That's politics, you win, you lose, you gear up for the next battle. Get over yourself; we need to punish the truly guilty parties here, the Democrats and RINOs who have stopped ANWR development, and give conservatives a boost by not laying into them for something they are not to blame for.
