I had quit running spybot/adaware when I changed over to Firfox earlier this year. There was a screwup a few months ago and I accidentally re-installed Firefox and forgot to uncheck the "allow websites to install software" for about 6 months.
I just did a spybot scan and found over 1000 spyware files.
Ungh.
Me too except I deleted IE. Also try Camino and Opera, both are good. Opera is a little different and has some cool features.
I have the same problem with FF & Drudge because the site has a lot of persistant popup ads and FF has to spend a lot of time fighting them off. I actually eMailed complaints but to no avail.
I'm very much looking forward to FF 1.5.
And I'm proud to say that IE will not install and run on my machine.
Okay, I am clueless here. I am using Firefox, am also using a cable connection, but not aware of what if any "optimal performance" issues I am missing out on. I trust you when you say I am missing something if I don't tweek FF, but I don't know exactly what I'm missing. What did you tweek? Help me out please.
Try installing the FasterFox extension to Firefox and see if that helps. That extension allows you to "tweak" the settings of the program to speed up downloading of web pages in Firefox itself.

And see if that helps also.
Thank you so much for your very helpful advise. I guess I won't impliment it on this computer since I use it for my Internet design business and need to test client's sites. I had best not interfere with test results under "normal circumstances" as I guess most Firefox users know nothing about these settings. But I am sure going to do it on my home computer.
One other question since you seem so knowledgeable.... we are building on our remote farmland in the blueridge mountains of NC and will be moving up there full time in about 18 months. There will be no cable or DSL services. And I have heard how slow and unreliable Satellite Internet connection is (although its fine for TV). I have been hearing of BPL which will provide connection over a regular power line. Do you know anything about this and how realistic it will be that it would be available? Would a power company have to opt into some kind of program and install special equipment, or would just special modems on the user end be all that would be nesessary? Any advice about this or other options for my connection in a remote area?
I love Firefox! Just one question: How do I make it compatible with my Yahoo Music service?
