I also don't put my finger on the trigger unless I am ready to fire. It rests on the side of the gun until time to fire.

A definite sign of good training. If you get the chance, watch the scene in the Mel Gibson movie Payback where his drugged up wife (played by Deborah Unger) shoots him. She is sitting in the car afterward when the creep comes up to her. She is waving the gun around and seems to be zonked out but she has her finger parked just as you say, on the side of the gun. She is playing a skanked out witch but can't avoid good safety habits :) I'll bet she was well trained and probably has more than a few hours at the range.

I will try to find that movie and watch for that scene. :)
I am very careful with my gun...I would never want to hurt an innocent, but I have to be ready to drop this one guy when he comes for me. I pray he isn't released, but he is a five time felon, and they just keep letting him go :(

He told me I would die when he got out...and he told me he wouldn't leave a witness the next time. So I not only have to avoid being his victim again, I have to consider the safety of his next victim. I won't have that on my hands...he's going home in a pine box!
