It is hard to argue with the idealism of a nineteen year old... Actually I have no trouble at all. It is incumbent upon us to not let thoughtless idealism take hold and rule the day. Otherwise we'll have Hell to pay.

I should have said it is hard to get through to a nineteen year old. That is why the word "sophomoric" has a certain meaning.
Of course we should make the effort.
