AMMAN, Jordan (AP) -- Explosions hit three hotels in the Jordanian capital Wednesday night, and at least 12 people were killed.
The first blast occurred at about 8:50 p.m. at the luxury Grand Hyatt hotel, popular with tourists and diplomats. An Associated Press reporter at the hotel counted seven bodies being taken away. Police said there were many others injured.
A few minutes later, police reported an explosion at the Radisson SAS Hotel a short distance away. Police said five people were killed and at least 20 wounded

Ok here goes... (flame away if I am way off base!)
Jordan is an ally of the US. They are also doing some sketchy stuff behind our backs. Someone is making the point: No matter what your nation is, or if it is a Muslim Nation and you are already giving us what we ask for up to a point. You can be a target, you will be a target, if we perceive you are allying with anyone we consider the enemy. IE the US and all our allies. Does this strike anyone else as a TACTICAL projection of power?
The White House needs to be on this IMMEDIATELY, as in right now and condemn this. Preferably the President, say in an unscheduled Press Stop??? It needs to be on the evening News Cycle. For all sorts of reasons.
This is not at all good news, but it does back up everything the President and his Administration have been saying all along.
They have got to be ahead of the curve on this!!!

AQ picks their target carefully. Key points about Jordan:
- Normal relations with Israel
- Population is 60% Palestinian
- Normal and close ties with Iraq (they even supported Saddam in the Gulf War)
- Key transit point to Iraq, esp. Western Iraq
- Ally of the US
When they claim responsibility all this will come up, trust me.

EXACTLY!!! Perfectly put! It had Two Targets, both of which they hit. The Jordanians for their aid to us, and to the Foreigners that pass through those hotels. Nailed everyone. Al-Qaeda won't even NEED to claim responsibility for this one.

FNC saying Jordanian Police say "Scores" Killed....Why do the Muslims bomb their own? It's part of their ideology. Jordan's government is friendly to the West, so they are apostate Muslims, in their view. Bin Laden may have been an organizing force when al Qaeda was founded, but the real "evil genius" is Zawahiri, who took the bulk of Egyptian Islamic Jihad and incorporated it into al Qaeda. Egyptian Islamic Jihad is an ideological descendant of the Muslim Brotherhood, and the leading "mind" of the Brotherhood in the 20th century, Sayyid Qutb, was the one who justified attacking those who they saw as "apostate Muslims."
As much as people like to simplify the radicals to being a largely Wahhabist movement (they do provide cash and men), the ideology started and is still focused in Egypt.

How much more before we do to Islam, what the Spaniards did to the Aztecs? Surely, there is a fast food group that would love to locate a new burger joint on the empty lot that use to be Mecca; just throw in a Nathans, a nightclub, and a movie theater to round out the space. When is enough going to be enough?

They still have VERY close ties to the Iraqi government. Their embassy was one of the first to open (and one of the first to get bombed) after the US invasion. AQ has targeted themselves before because of their ties to the Kurds, Shia's etc.
