Nor would I, if they did something wrong. I'm talking about saying to innocent people, "if you belong to a certain ethnic group, religion, race, hold certain opinions, etc. then you will be shipped out to a concentration camp* for orderly disposition."

Ok, there's the problem.

A bunch of rioters run from the police. They hide in a neighborhood.
The police can't pick out each individual perp.

What do they do? Simply walk away because they can't ID each individual?

Or do they round up the lot and sort them out later.

I vote for the latter.

Well, then that's wrong. If they didn't do anything wrong, they shouldn't be punished. Further, it is a false analogy, because in the Japanese-American situation, there were no "rioters," there was a fear of a riot that didn't materialize.

On second thought, ID each, warn them all not to leave and then systematically work your way through them. We cannot depart from Consitituional rights for any but the most extreme cases.
