I saw Chrissie state that last night. He said it with such unctuous glee that I bet he had to change his underwear during the break.

Matthews' point was that any closeness in the polls... or even an early lead for Forrester... would be rendered irrelevant by Corzine's massive election-day vote-buying spree.

Can he do less damage as a corrupt guv than as a corrupt Senator? Seems to me that NJ is no stepping stone to anywhere. Whatever money he has, he can't buy the country if Teresa couldn't.

Saw NJ off at the river and set it out to sea.

The irony is that the campaign has preemptively rendered this 'stepping stone' inoperative for Corzine. (Larry Sabato just labeled Corzine's presidential ambitions 'humorous.' (Or was it 'laughable?') I suspect Corzine wants to live in Trenton* as much as rodham wanted to live in Little Rock. There is some sort of poetic justice developing here....
- *A little poetic license: Actually, the Governor's mansion is in a somewhat more upscale neighborhood. Drumthwacket is in Princeton.

I see you on a few of these NJ threads. I didn't know you were a Jersey Girl Mia!
I'm bummed that Somerset County is so purple. Forrester only won by 9,000 votes.

I was born and bred in NYC, but I have ties to NJ (and CT).
Regarding Somerset County, the red of the Somerset Hills are, I suspect, increasingly offset by the perpetual bluing of the towns around New Brunswick.

The one bright side to all of this is that these two millionaires have pumped tens of millions of dollars into New Jersey's economy without the government having to tax it away from the and run it through state government.
To: Mia T
Did anybody publish Philadelphia's New Jersey gubernatorial results yet?
Corzine has a history of mobilizing that vote effectively.

Corzine will doubtless figure out a way to rectify this revolting development ASAP. Perhaps a sales tax.... I mean, he did BUY the governorship, after all.

If' we're really lucky, he'll pump tens of millions more of his money into the American economy in a failed bid to buy the presidency.

In "Democrat" strongholds, walking around dough raises even the dead!
No wonder well known nattering nabob of necrophiliac negativity, Chrissie Mathews, is drowning us in drool.
