I don't know, man. Pass the Fritos, will ya?No way, Fritos are controlled by the Interstate Commerce clause so they MUST be bad for you.
By the way, don't you just love the FreeRepublic poll on the Interstate Commerce clause? I wonder if they'd get the same overwhelming results from this site if they dropped firearms from the question. The Interstate Commerce clause, a clause to be used to gore everone and anyone's ox.

Doonsbury hasn't been funny since the 70's. When Reagan was elected, Trudeau went off the deep end in an orgy of left wingnut hatred against all Republicans that has just gotten worse as the years have passed.
Boondocks is just a ripoff of Trudeau's work, with a heavy racial overtone to it.
My all time favorites are The Far Side and Bloom County. The best of the current strips is without question, IMHO, Dilbert.

I really really hate Boondocks, and I'm amazed that they can get away with such racisit bigoted crap.
Wait. No I'm not.

My favorite has always been FAR SIDE.
I think KNIGHTS OF THE DINNER TABLE is the best of the current.
You would have to be a gamer to understand most of the jokes.

I recall Calvin mentioned the Noodle Incident but I don't think Watterson never went into detail and Calvin never fully confessed.
Apparently pasta was the thing in the late-80s / mid-90s .
Other pasta related affairs around that same era include
Guns N' Roses 1993 album of cover songs entitled "The Spaghetti Incident", which, according to wilkipedia, got its name from an incident wherein the band's orginal drummer wrecked the band's apartment in search for his lost "spaghetti"- a term he used for herion.
And then there is the "Linguini Incident", a movie released in 1991 starring Rosanna Arquette and David Bowie about two disgruntled restaurant employees (David Bowie, Rosanna Arquette) who decide to rob their employers (source: IMDB).

Like "Boondocks," it takes the occasional swipe at conservative ideologies and most certainly the Bush administration, but it does so in an "artsy" way. Most of us Freepers wouldn't understand. Ah, I see. That explains it. HG, you're not the only one who didn't "get it" either.

Did you see the one after Strom Thurmond died? It was one of the most vicious things I've read in a comic. Had to admit that particular one was pretty funny though.

Somewhere out there (here) on the net, there is a large thesis that supposes that C&H is really a metaphor for another culturally significant twosome, but I can't remember who.
Does anybody recall this? Ummm...John Calvin and Thomas Hobbes. Really.
Think about it. Isn't Calvin the embodiment of original sin?

Boondocks is a complete waste of the form and insulting to America. Nothing but racist hate under the guise of "political satire".Since you like the Boondocks comic strip so much, you will LOVE the Boondocks TV show.

Let me be clear: "Boondocks" take unabashed swipes at Bush; "Zippy" dogs Bush in an artsy way, one that makes all those John Kerry "intellectuals" chuckle. Both are "successful" in the minds of critics though, because of their willingness to dog conservatives, whether they be individuals or values.
Freepers, who enjoy irony, sarcasm, juxtaposition, self-deprication, and conservative elements in their humor don't see what the fuss is about. Oh, did I mention that the artwork in "Zippy" is absolutely atrocious?

It may read better in the annual compendium where strips are gathered together (either by linear continuity or by subject/theme/technique). There is also an appendix of where the different monuments referenced in the strip are located and I think there may be some other references in the back as well.
