It's more than liberalism in NJ . Half the people voting for the Dem in NJ are conservative at heart . I bet half that voted for Corozine actually support the war and Bush .But , locally , they would elect a cardboard cut out if it was a DEM . Thats just WHAT YOU DO in NJ . Half the states population have jobs that depend on the MACHINE. It's so deeply rooted , so corrupt.I voted republican as always .

"It's more than liberalism in NJ . "

I agree with your other points.

I also think the Republican party leadership in New Jerseey isn't operating on all eight cylinders. For the life of me, I can't understand why Forrrester beat out Schundler in the primaries there. I think Schundler would have made a better candidate. Also, I think they could have found a better candidate than even Schundler.

When Republicans run for state office in New Jersey they frequently also run as Democrat Light. Forrester presesnted himself as a Conservative in the primaries then ran as a Tom Kean "moderate" in the general election. I guess a lot of independents didn't really see any difference between the two and went with a quantity they knew. Also, in a race between two exceptionally lackluster candidates, Forrester presented an exceptionally lackluster persona in debates - or so I have been told.
