Why too close to call? I'll call it: we lose Gov, and win AG and LG. How's that?

It looks like Kaine pulled it off. Kilgore could've pledged no new taxes and to finish getting rid of the car tax but he didn't so what was left was an heir to Warner. I still am surprised. I didn't expect this at all. This should've been a slam dunk even with Warner's popularity.

The good news is that next time, there will be no statewide successor to Kaine. Now the battle will be whether McDonnell or Bolling becomes the front runner in 2009 for Governor (unfortunately, the last time we had both the Lt Gov & AG, the Lt Gov sandbagged the AG and we got a Warner).

I'd also like to know how we're doing with the legislative seats. Did we gain ? Did we lose ? Was it a wash ?

"Too close to call" in liberal-speak is "we are going to lose".

Remember election night 2000? Every single state that leaned Gore was reported "won" with 2% reporting while states like Tennessee with 90% reporting and Bush ahead with 5-7% were "too close to call".

You appear to be right. Bill Bolling eked out a 51% to 49% victory in the Lieutenant Governor's race wiht 88% reporting. But the Attorney General's race is too close to call, with only 4,100 votes seperating the candidates. A recount is possible.

Eh, I expected this, honestly. I was hoping for a narrow Kilgore win, but his campaign has been horrible. I could have put together a better campaign late on a Saturday night while drunk off my a$$. I can't believe some of the things they did and didn't do.

Anyhow, as I told another D that was saying how this was going to be so huge for them:

"We lost both (NJ & VA) in 2001 too. So, given that, I'll take a repeat of 2002, 2003 and 2004 if you want for 2006, 2007 and 2008."

Would be a reason to panic if that Byrne hag got elected. She'd start building a Commonwealth Gulag immediately.

I can't believe the Dems are so crass and tasteless as to keep running her for public office. You'd think they'd have some sense of shame, but apparantly after you've been out killing babies and scragging the elederly all day long, there's no room for such a thing.

On a lighter note, the Far Left power grab by Soros & Co failed in OH. This bodes well for Ken Blackwell next year. Plus, the gay marriage ban passed by 3/4 of the vote in Texas. I hope the parent notification for abortion and union dues pass in California.

Overall, I hope the losses in NJ and VA reminds the GOP to stand for something.

I think it's great that Democrats keep running Leslie Byrne. As long as she runs for office, Republicans will win the office she's running for.

This reminds me of something... why the hell hasn't Steve Forbes gotten off his ass and run for NJ Governor ?

I think Kilgore made a tactical error when he went after Kaine on the death penalty. He should've known that Kaine would've responded with a religious defense; when Kaine did so, Kilgore was left looking like a fool.

Also, the subject of illegal aliens should've been kept out of the gubernatorial race. It's a federal issue. Unless the Commonwealth's National Guard is going to be patrolling the southern border, he shouldn't have brought it up.

Despite all his errors, Kilgore held Kaine to under 51%, wich is not too shabby.

Because he won't win. That mechanical, zombie-like stare of his is so creepy, he could be in a George Romero movie.

My understanding is that Kaine supports in state tuition for illegals. That would make it a state issue deluxe.

He may have a zombielike stare, but at least he isn't the genuine undead like Lautenburg. Besides, we're going to have to use our billionaires to buy back these offices.

Illegal aliens are a very real issue in Virginia, but in a way you may not have encountered. Mara Salvatruccha 13 has murdered 4 people within 2 miles of my home over the last 3 years.

These people were brought here by the Democratic party, and it's time for them to go home. They have overstayed their welcome.

Kilgore should have campaigned against MS13 by name and blamed their existence on Steny Hoyer, Jim Moran, Kaine and their running dog lackeys in the Stalinist paradise of Arlington and Alexandria.

There's not a Democrat in the US who dares say anything bad about MS13.

Agreed. He just gave a liberal hypocrite pro-abortion Catholic-In-Name-Only Democrat a chance to say over and over how religious and principled he was.
