And they still aren't going to marry another of the same sex, legally, in Texas.
Worse than that . . .
The San Antonio Express-News editorial page recommended voting against Proposition 2. Fortunately, editorial writers no longer have the influence over local elections they enjoyed once upon a time. Wonder why?
Could it be they are so out of touch with their communities?
Wonder how our other major newspapers urged their readers to vote? /Sarcasm
There are a lot of laws that our legislature cannot enact and it must be done by constitutional amendment. Hangover from the carpetbagger days.
That's also why the Governorship is actually as weak as it is. The Leutenant Governor has a lot of power under our constitution.
The real problem is, they would enjoy it!
The gay-oriented Houston Voice has "outed" CNN's Anderson Cooper and Fox News Channel's Shepard Smith, charging that they "choose to hide and deceive -- and to protect their incomes and images -- at the expense of contributing important weight and star power to the gay civil rights movement."
A horrific proposition.
Very very sad.
Hey, just my opinion as a straight Conservative.
Texas messed up, BAD.
My first post, I'm proud to report that my son was able to vote for the first time today at 18 years of age. Most find the personality votes more fun than the issue votes, but this is a great election start for our youth. The issues are MOST important and the WORDS have meaning. His Mother and I are real proud of him.
Makes me proud to be a Texan!
Being roughly wedged between Massachusetts and Canada....whatta ya gonna do.
Even with Roberts and Alito, I can only count 4 supreme court votes going our way on that.
Yes you will. Some Gay-stapo mouthpiece will call for a boycott of Texas, or sumthin'.
Not with Chief Justice Roberts presiding over the court
The gay marriage constitutional ban approval was front page:
Houston Chronicle: http://www.chron.com
Dallas Morning News: http://www.dallasnews.com
Prop. 2 Same sex marriage denied legal status - 99.5% Reporting
IN FAVOR......505,429......75.93%.....1,706,580.....76.15%
AGAINST.......160,242......24.07%........534,350.....23.85%
Screw the liberal MSM. Secondly, I am so sick of having to hear about gays when hormone therapy works 99% of the time to stop this very serious disease.
This is not to say that your point re VA is not valid for VA or Texas. But, VA and Texas are not, say NJ. An unabashed conservative cannot win in a place like NJ. (Granted, an unabashed fiscal D probably can't win, either. Corzine worked hard at concealing his taxing ways.) But, as we saw last night, NJ will elect an unabashedly crooked, corrupt social liberal.
Another point: Certain conservative principles have broad appeal beyond the politically conservative voter. It does not follow from this that an unabashedly conservative candidate would have similar broad appeal.
Texas State Prop 2 - Gay Marriage Ban
Travis County, Texas
For..........49,513....41.12%
Against....70,893....58.88%
Another defeat for DA Ronnie Earle's liberal Austin clan, just like Tom DeLay will continue to do.

There is 23+ million people in Texas. Opponents to the gay marriage ban said it would affect about 43,000 same-sex couples in Texas. Why in the hell is the State of Texas and its citizens expected to make an exception for less than 1/5 of 1% of the population, that will not get proper treatment for their disease?
I'm from SA and I am not surprised about the Express-News. The Bryan Eagle - where I currently live - also opposed the passage of prop 2.
In addition, so did the Houston Chronicle and I understand the Dallas Morning News all urged defeat of prop 2.
Here in Brazos County the total votes in regard to Prop 2:
For: 12,395
Against: 4,566
I voted for Prop 2,4,6,8. Against the rest.
700000 people against it in Texas I wonder if California needs a population boom. ;^)
