As of this reply
English As The "Official" Language of America?
A recent poll by a nonpartisan research firm says 83% of Marylanders believe laws should be passed making English the official language of the U.S. This would require that all official documents and government business be conducted only in English -- no more printing in other languages.
Do you agree with this proposal?
Yes, we must declare English our official language now before it's too late. 70%
No, this will only make things worse for lots of people, unnecessarily so. 30%

OK... sounds like they called you "Pendejo"
(pen-day-ho, more or less), a very rude Mexican way of calling you an asshole.

The literal meaning of pendejo is "strand of pubic hair".
After getting the correct spelling, I found it in Google.

Of course we all need to speak English. I'm just saying it is beneficial to know more than one language and I think it would be a good idea to teach kids Spanish. I encouraged my kids to take it. One of my daughters had five years yet doesn't speak it very well, though she does understand a lot and can read some. It is difficult to learn a new language. And those who don't want to learn Spanish certainly don't have to. But I do love Cuban food - lol.

I'm just saying it is beneficial to know more than one language and I think it would be a good idea to teach kids Spanish. I can't argue another language is beneficial to all. Why do you pick Spanish? Why not Russian? Why not Arabic? Why not German? Why not Hebrew? Why this predisposition to Spanish? I've been trying to be nice but I really don't like racist people at all and you are one. You appear to be trying to force AMERICAN's to be Mexicans. Good luck there and shame on that. If I'm wrong about you I apologize but I see racism for what it is.

Definitely YES
I live in California the invasion of the Spanish speaking people here is SO ANNOYING. We can not communicate because they choose to live here and we are willing to make California a mini Mexico. It is draining our schools. We voted for English only and the judges changed that. We need to take our country back. If they don't want to come in legally and learn our language, then they can go home.
To: ozarkgirl
Why do you assume Spanish-speakers are Mexican? There are many Cubans, South Americans, and Central Americans who speak Spanish. And don't forget Puerto Ricans. And where I live we have a thriving Russian community also, so yes, learning Russian is great, too. I'm pretty sure Spanish is spoken by more immigrants than any other language but I could be wrong.
