He could have attacked Kaine on the Death Penalty without attacking the fact that, as a defense attorney, Kaine actually argued on behalf of his client convicted of murder. When I saw the ad, I thought, "Is he suggesting a defense attorney should take another position?"
That was just slimy. To attack the notion that the accused is entitled to present a case in his defense is to spit on basic American principles.
