Your car is part of your life, in the sense that you spent time working to earn the $$ to buy it. Same goes for anything else you own.
Property crime is incremental murder, as the perpetrators are stealing your time, and time is something in life you can never get back. Sure we all have insurance, but we still pay one way or another.
