Bill Clinton: Immigration Crackdown Hurting U.S.
NewsMax.com ^ | Nov. 8, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 11/08/2005 7:14:36 AM PST by Carl/NewsMax

Ex-president Bill Clinton is arguing that tighter immigration laws are hurting America, saying the new restrictions aren't worth it even if they stop the "one out of a zillion [foreigners] who might have a bomb."

"I'm very worried that one of the consequences of our tightness on immigration and visas as a result of 9/11 and terror, has led to a drop in many places of the number of foreign students coming to the United States to study and be graduate students," Clinton told an audience at the University of Minnesota on Saturday.

He said the U.S. needed foreign students because "we are nowhere near graduating enough scientists and engineers to maintain, given the size of our economy, a leadership role in the global economy."

Clinton said the terror trade-off wasn't worth it.

"When we got real tough on visas - because one out of a zillion of them might have a bomb - we lost a lot of brains. We might have dodged a bomb but we lost a lot of brains."

On another subject, the former president also praised actress Geena Davis, star of the new ABC Show "Commander in Chief."

"I did see one episode of 'Commander in Chief'," Clinton told the crowd. "Geena Davis is good for two reasons. She looked tough but not macho. She didn't look lion-tough. And she spoke Spanish. So I thought those two things were good."

Uh-huh. Suuuuure, Bill.

That's why there are so many American engineers out of work, I suppose?

Our educational system is so dumbed down through Diversity and Multiculturalism and useless subjects that we no longer compete effectively in many places.

This stance of the Clinton's is a perfect example of why expecting any Socialist Democrat to defend this country is a mistake - they are all appeasers and will not defend your freedom from terrorism.

What Clinton and every politician should recognize is that unless this country demands a society that speaks one language only for business, education, and medicine and that is ENGLISH ONLY, the fracturing of this country with Political Correctness, allowing the ACLU, the NEA and whining Special Interests groups to balkanize America with multi-languages we are going to wind up just like France and the similar microcosm known as New Orleans! Demand ENGLISH ONLY for all business and education in America!

Ruh roh, what are those on FR, who for a year were touting hillary as the savior on immigration going to say now.

Dane, you know NO one has done that, so get over yourself. According to Bill Clinton's words above, however, you certainly could be considered a "clintonite".Or is it a Durbanite? Dick Durban uses the same propaganda and mud slinging you do.

Hey Bubba, graduating them is not retaining them. Of what value are they to us when they graduate and return to their country of origin to create competition against our own businesses?

We need to graduate more domestic students but first we must fix the public schools so they can graduate enough students with college entry level skills.

Clitoon is probably hoping one of these foreigners will develop a drug that will keep him and his dong alive forever.

I think he or she is a fake "Grover Norquist Jr" tax crusading conservo-libertarian false front of some sort.

You're probably closer to the fact than you realize. She certaily parrots Grover Norquists views on illegal immigration. He's the republican operatives spokesman for letting them all come in. Seperated at birth???

Here is a list of some Hillary supporting Freepers I found with a search of “hillary immigration vote,” and limited to www.freerepublic.com. I got 41,000 hits but only skimmed the first 40 pages.

dagnabbit
It may well be that Hillary doesn't care about immigration. In fact, it's likely she doesn't but we cannot know. On the other hand, we know for certain that Bush doesn't care.

2ndreconmarine
The arguments made here are basically: "We will vote against Hillary and the democrats no matter how badly Bush and the republicans screw up, no matter how much they refuse to enforce existing laws, and no matter how treasonous their behavior is.

Well. Guess again republicans.

atomic_dog
But if I have to vote for her to get the message to the PUBS in DC that their open borders crap is UNACCEPTABLE then so be it. I, and many people I know are totally serious about this, and Rove better get the message.

JFK_Lib
But I am going to vote single issue on immigration law enforcement. Anyone that even wears a button calling for it will get my vote over anyone else that indicates less.

11th_VA
My vote IS for sale in the election - ANY politician that will deal with illegal immigration will get my vote. Else, I may sit the next one out.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1305125/posts?page=13#13

Halgr
I'm delighted that Hillary is picking up this "ball" and running with it...HOPEFULLY Rove will tell the president he needs to pay attention....if not... Well border security is more important to me than who is in the whitehouse...its the way the next terrorist attack will source from.

HonestConservative
I voted for Bush twice, so I am really sticking it out there. Hillary makes me ill, but if that's what it takes to get their attention,to protect the nation, to save lives, I am willing to lower myself to voting for her, just to send the flippin' message.

FreePaul
She can put her words to action very shortly. I believe that the issue of driver's licenses for illegals will come up early in the next session. If she can lead a Democrat block to restrict driver's licenses to those legally in this country she will have some credibility. Let's see where she goes. We know that the administration is only interested in supporting illegal immigration.

bilhosty
Good! Illegal immigration is the nu 1 problem facing this country. If she can convince me she is sincere, she could get my vote. I never would of thought that possible before today.

grania
Bottom line, disgusting as it is...if Hillary is the only one who is actually going to support the will of the nation, then she should win!

I don't recognize most of those handles. That alone is suspicious. Most of them are probably not Freepers in any long term sense. Most are probably drive-by trolls.

Thanks for the past posts. Incredible isn't.

Everytime an immigration post came up, there was always someone ready to pounce to tout hillary's so called tough stance on immigration.

Glad to see I made the top of your little "supporters" list, though it's the usual Mexico-merger-supporter distortion to call what I said about her "support".

Similarly, just because I might point out that immigration leftist George Bush restored welfare to immigrants that had been cut off under immigration leftist Bill Clinton, doesn't make me an endorser of x-42.

That would be like saying that because Klinton never publicly gave oral affection to Saudi Prince Abdullah, he is in any way less embarrassing than the current politician in the White House.

Good!

Now we can use those quota slots for AMERICAN students!

Not one post where anyone on FR proclaimed the glories or supported Hillary. Not one, but that doesn't stop the propaganda against anyone wanting to stop the invasion. dagnabbit, some here will accuse you of being an automobile if you dare stand in your garage.

I don't recognize most of those handles.

That shows you are not very observant. I reiterate that this list is not a complete list but just the first to hit my search engine. 10 comments in the first 40 pages. You claim to have not seen these kinds of posts at FR everyday for the last year. I find that hard to believe.

That alone is suspicious. Most of them are probably not Freepers in any long term sense.

That is why I provided links to the posts. All but one are current Freepers and 3 have been here longer than you, as has Dane who you call a DU troll. The fact, that you do not already know this, shows you are quite willing to respond in ignoranance and, even when given the tools to educate yourself, you choose to remain that way.

Have a nice day.

It may well be that Hillary doesn't care about immigration. In fact, it's likely she doesn't but we cannot know.

It is not hard for me to know. Nor is it hard for most adults be they rats or Republicans to know that Hillary is pro-illegal immigration. She would do less than Dubya to halt illegal immigration and we would lose so much more on every other issue with Hillary.

Similarly, just because I might point out that immigration leftist George Bush restored welfare to immigrants that had been cut off under immigration leftist Bill Clinton, doesn't make me an endorser of x-42.

It makes you babbling. About 800,000 immigrants were removed from food stamp rolls in 1996, according to the Agriculture Department. Two years later, benefits were restored to about 175,000 immigrants, mostly children and older people who were in the country before the legislation was signed in August 1996. It was passed by a Republican controlled Congress and signed by Bill Clinton.

Dubya signed the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 which restored food stamps to all LEGAL immigrants. This one was passed by a Republican controlled house and evenly split Senate.

You pick and choose your facts, but your admiration for the Clinton's shines right on through. Have a nice day.

Thanks for again making my point about immigration leftists Bush and Clinton.

Terrible isn't it, how, after the people and Congress do something about folks bringing in foreign relatives who go on the dole, weasel politicians like Clinton and Bush betray us by putting those immigrants right back on the dole.

Good thing Congress has been able to stop most of Bush's other dishonest amnesty schemes.

Of course he'll still preside over the largest ever eight-year influx of illegal aliens.
