The myth of labor shortages underpins immigration policies in many western countries. There are several proven alternatives to importing cheap labour, including automation, and outsourcing the work to the countries where this cheap labour lives.

The other myth is that we need the immigrants because of the low birth rates and aging population in western countries. The fantasy is that these immigrant populations will be willing and able to pay the cost of social security and medicate for us in our dotage. The best alternative is to privatize social security, and allow people to invest globally. The financial returns would be far greater than what we can expect from hostile, self-segretated immigrant "communities". In addition, low birth rates are a result of feminist doctrine and government social engineering over the past several decades. The birthrate could just as easily be increased. That is the best way to stem the erosion of western civilization.
