Close enough... A regulated weapon requiring waiting period and no "high capacity" magazines. The permit comment was made to me by an owner of several AR type rifles and a former MD FFL dealer. If he buffaloed me I guess I'm guilty of listening.
While Maryland is no panacea for gun owners, your info still isn't completely correct. The only AR's which require a waiting period are the complete rifles with a "government profile" barrel or a stripped lower receiver. Most AR's have the HBAR barrel (unlike what is stated in your quote) and are cash and carry.
As far as magazines go, 20-rounders are legal to purchase within Maryland, and if you go over the state border to purchase larger capacity mags, you can legally bring them back into the state and use them.
So dang it, go git yerself an AR!
