NYC has a large muslim population. Most are solidly middleclass, mostly small businessmen. These are are class of people that tend not to riot. For instance, the guy from the limo service isn't going to run out in the street and smash the window of the grocery owned by his second cousin...

Their petulant, obnoxious kids might riot, though. Or at the very least, go to another neighborhood for their shenanigans.

I'd bet on the NYPD to cower behind blockades. I know they did a good job on 9-11 and all, but the PC crap is infecting them again now that Rudy is gone.

The NY Army National Guard might have a few things to say about the matter, as well. USA State Governors are generally much quicker to call out the NG than the Froggish authorities have been (in the present riots) to call out their equivalent.
