Meeting Kyoto Protocol targets on greenhouse gas emissions will reduce European economic growth significantly.
That is the finding of a new study from the International Council for Capital Formation, a market-based think tank.
It projects that by 2010, Spain's growth will have fallen by 3%, and that Italy's will shrink by 2%.
These are bigger figures than previous studies have found, and their release comes as world leaders struggle to find a successor to the Kyoto treaty.

So who is the dummy now? Let the Euro-environmentalists run their countries into the ground. We don't need a successor to the Kyoto treaty.

I think that the last few weeks have proven that when deciding the best course for this country, we need to look at Europe's example, and do exactly the opposite.

Bad news for unemployed French "youths". The French were behind this 100% and condemned us for not signing on.

Nice to see the 3 big chickens of liberalism, multiculturalism and radical environmentalism all coming home to roost at once.
The next sound you hear will be heads exploding at DU.

That's allright, the indigent muslim population may burn half of it to the ground anyway. They'll definitely meet the Kyoto goals then........

Wow. That is kind of like reducing the growth in the readers of our mainstream media newspapers. When your "growth" is already "decline" what's another 2 or 3 percent deeper into the red.

Meeting Kyoto Protocol targets on greenhouse gas emissions will reduce European economic growth significantly. Ya don't say? Meanwhile, the factories will move to countries with no environmental controls at all, resulting in more "greenhouse gases" than before.

That's been true for the last 100 years. Communisim, Fascism, WWI, WWII, Socialism... hmm... So far so good for us, as long as we keep doing the opposite.

They're not smart enough for things to reach that level. Just a humble opinion on my part. I'm sure they'll come up with another deluded excuse.

The proverbial "elephant in the room" that no one wants to talk about is that Bush was correct to reject this stupid idea despite all the infantile insults hurled at him and us.
But be afraid, be very afraid. For Gore and Kerry both swore undying love to Kyoto. And every loser democRAT/socialist gunning for the office of the President will pledge fealty and devotion to this sad, dying environmental whore.
Because a liberal/democRAT would rather:

But you're leaving out the environmental benefit that will result (sarcasm). Since Kyoto's full implementation was expected to result in a 0.06 degree Celsius drop in the average global temperature over the next 50 years (compared with no such implementation), with just the EU participating, we'll surely see a drop in the neighborhood of 0.01 degrees Celsius in our lifetimes. Better throw another log on the fire.
