My hair is starting to hurt following this. I thought MD4BUSH was a Duncan operative in the Dem party trying to smear O'Malley. But he gets a job with the O'Malley posse?

LOL!!!

I've always thought it was an O'Malley operative trying to hurt Ehrlich and Duncan by making it look like it was one or the other trying to use the other to smear O'Malley.

but what do I know?

We never knew for sure. That was just one of many theories.

Remember, Mayor O'Malley stuck his foot in his mouth at the National Press Club on February 8, equating President Bush's budget cuts to 9/11. The MD4Bush story came out the next day, wiping O'Malley's gaffe (which was even reported here in NY, IIRC) off the front page of the Baltimore and Washington papers. The Washington Post relegated the gaffe story to page A5.

Lots of us believe that O'Malley
1) really screwed up on Feb 8, 2004 in a speech before many of the country's mayors
2) had the swirl of ugly rumors about infidelity over his head for months
3) dropped the dime -aka NCPAC/MD4BUSH freepmails - to Matthew Mosk on the evening of Feb 8, so that the next news cycle would be covering an offended Mayor and his wunded wife standing sympathetically in front of City Hall blaming Ehrlich's nefarious "prince of Darkness" for spreading malicious rumors.

This cost Joe Steffen his job, and did stop everybody in Baltimore from talking about the O'Malley rumors.

A page from the Clinton playbook --get bad news out early - remember the discussion ofJennifer Flowers on 60 minutes after the Superbowl of 1992 - than which there is no greater prime time. For the rest of the primaries that year Clinton was inoculated against the bimbo eruptions because "it had already been discussed" - old news - moving on - marriage stronger - etc

Perhaps the O'Malley people figured they could pin the blame on both Ehrlich and Duncan....Duncan being the fallback if anything ever surfaced.
Tick,tock.
