It is scandalous that France is such a violent society. I'm certainly glad to live here where violent crime is in decline.

LOL, and you say that while you live in a country where the murder-rate per capita is significant higher (in the US 0.042802 murders per 1,000 capita, in France 0.0173272 murders per 1,000 capita).
