The youths weren't about to be caught and jumped into the transformer and met their demise. It was a full scale power distribution substation. It had warning signs. The fences were 10 feet tall, and topped with 3 strands of barbed wire.
Three of them went in; two were killed; the third was hospitalized with 'severe' injuries.
There MAY have been an ulterior motive for them going in, completely different from their deaths being seized upon as an excuse to first riot, then insurrect.

Well, Archduke Francis Ferdinand's assassination is credited with setting off World War I.
An assassination seems like more of a justification that a couple of hoodlums running from police who ( went past the many warning signs, climbed a 10 foot tall fence, over barbed wire and...) were electrocuted.
It just seems like a disproportionate reaction. Seems like it was planned.
