Ah, doggonit. I was hoping it would hide the fact that I am actually very, very cynical. LOL.
I am pollyannaish by choice. It is a genuine miracle that any of us were born which is something I no longer take for granted. Shortly after college I decided to quit being a liberal whiner cynic, take responsibility for myself and be grateful for all that I have, not to mention realize that while I often can not control the things that happen around me, one can certainly choose how one reacts to them.
That doesn't mean you ignore the evil in the world. It just means life is what it is and you have an opportunity to turn it to your (and others) advantage if you are patient and think instead of feel.
I strongly believe that applies here. Perhaps the greatest admiration I have for this Administration is based on this. They have not been above making mistakes and having crappy things happen that are out of their control. But they have a tendency to suck it up, analyze what they've got and make the best of it.
Some believe that approach is stupid. I believe at it's foundation it is fundamental to what it means to be an American. Realistic, but optimistic.
