I think you're missing the point. These are not riots as we are used to thinking of them. They are bands of roving arsonists, for the most part. They move around rapidly and can strike anywhere. It is actually a form of guerilla warfare - very calculated.

Well duh! This lady probably gets all her news from the NYT (or one of its clones). No wonder why she's confused--she probably thinks the riots are being perpetrated by out of work men of French descent.
The sad truth is that the only language these thugs understand is force. And you have to treat them as thugs, rather than civilized, reasonable men. Kill a whole bunch of them , without mercy or negotiation, and they will lick your boots. Appease them and they will think violence works--then you are guaranteed to get arrogant demands & more of the same. As inept as the French are, they still have superior firepower and know how to use it.
A century ago, every village idiot understood this. Nowadays, most will find this hard to swallow, but the whole point of the liberal/leftist/PC culture is to make people forget common sense and turn men into simpering, dependent cowards.
They'll take over wherever they settle.

Most likely it will be like trying to stomp out burning napalm. It would just move the riot somewhere else. But if that somewhere else also has armed citizens who take affront at rioting, well things get interesting.
The trouble is, these days the village idiot is likely to be the mayor, city councilman, state rep, Congressman or even more likely US Senator.
