WHEN SENATE MINORITY LEADER HARRY Reid abruptly took the Senate into closed session last Tuesday, he sought to portray the move as a desperate, last-ditch attempt to force intransigent Senate Republicans to complete the second phase of an investigation into the use of intelligence before the Iraq war. The procedural move is rare, one of the few things a minority party can do to seize the agenda--and the spotlight--from the Senate's majority.
After he called the Senate into closed session, a red-faced Reid sputtered his way through a press conference. "Finally after months and months and months of begging, cajoling, writing letters we're finally going to be able to have phase two of the investigation regarding how the intelligence was used to lead us into the intractable war in Iraq," he proclaimed, shortly before shouting down a reporter in mid-question.
He was just getting started.

Only in Eleanor's perverted sexual fantasies.
Pfffffttt. Again I say, Pffffftttt. Helen Thomas has a better chance of getting a date than an impeachment of W.
The President ought to go directly at the Dems in the State of the Union speech. I know it's against tradition--but its also against tradition to take politics into a war or have a past President taking potshots at an administration like Carter and Slick Willie are doing.
Rather... can anyone tell me why Bush, and Senate Republicans, don't tell the American people how these SOB's(and the MSM) are attempting to rewrite history!
What the hell are these pukes made of?!!
I have fantasies of runnning her over with my SUV.
Seriously, I don't know how Tony doesn't reach over and just cold cock her. (:
Wow! Great, great article. Thanks for posting this.
Bookmarked.
It can't.
Amen to that. Bush and the Republicans need to start throwing some roundhouses.
The scumbag Democrats need to be buried.
And they use that very lie to launch a blood libel against President Bush, safe in the knowledge that the MSM will never call them on it.
But no, I don't love it. This is dangerous stuff.
True: but the RNC, Pub leadership in the Congress and the Prez will NOT stand up and defend themselves. Look at Specter caving on the Alito confirmation date. The Prez refuses to stand up and refute the lying and incompetent charges. We may listen to Rush and hope he is right but the MSM and DNC allies have made great inroads in convincing many voters to think badly of the Pubs not the Dems and it is all a ploy of lies and spin. Still, polls do show huge gaps in reliability and integrity. We may wish it was against the Clinton years, their lies, their failures but as in baseball, what do you do for me now is the way voters and opinion molders look at the present situation. W will not stand up and defend himself and this is brewing a '06-08 disaster. I love Rush but he is overly optimistic that the Net, Fox, and Talk Radio can overcome the lies and spin of the MSM-DNC axis. So far, at least according to voter sentiments, W is in the crosshairs, not the Dems. And that is frustrating and shameful!
You are exactly correct. Bill Kristol asked the same question in The Standard today. I wrote of it too. When will the RNC, the Congressional Leadership and W all stand up and defend themselves against these MSM-DNC lies? They are a group of wussies and unless the grassroots do it for them, nothing will be done.
By NOT coming out viciously against these accusations... Bush and the Senate Republicans dig their own shallow graves.
Ahhhh, the smell of success. Yep, you're right. The Democrats won and Bush will not be reelected.
OTOH, expect them to use their hate for Bush in transfering hate to Republicans in general. We've seen this already as they claim Republicans are all corrupt.
The ultimate solution is to close down the Democrat party and then split the Repubicans in two, based on social conservative versus liberal lines. That way we'd all be fiscally conservative and supporting the USA, as compared to being so anti-American as they are.
I'm actually convinced Democrats do not know that they can do to regain power. The only thing they seem to have is complaining and trying to instill hatred for Republicans. Rush is right on this one, Democrats are afraid to tell voters what they actually stand for because they know it will be rejected. So, they are trying to spin what they can, hoping something will stick.
Zero chance with R majorities in both houses of congress, but that is what the libs are trying to concoct; grounds for impeachment for payback for Bill C.
I don't mean to sound like a chicken little, but what if they gain back seats in 2006. They really are out for blood--I hope the Republican's realize this.
At the moment, I'd bet serious money that not a single Republican seat is lost. They'd need about 30 in the house and 5 in the Senate and there aren't but a dozen competitive races, iirc.
