Unless there is post war security an invasion would do little to help achieve strategic objectives. It would be like punching one of those toys which pop right back up after you hit it. After the cockroaches initially scatter they will come right back as soon as American troops leave.

Bush understands this so there is no worry about him doing anything pointless and stupid.

well the alternative is to simply continue to allow the flow of terrorists and munitions over the syrian border, which is also pointless and stupid.

No that is not the alternative. The alternative is to attack these outposts as is occurring. Military force is useless for much of this since the killers won't stand an fight. Intelligence is of even greater importance than normal in fighting wars. As that improves the killers' effectiveness declines.

It is only in the Treason media that the war is being lost. In fact, the achievements have been awesome. Who would have ever thought that this could have been done at the cost of only 2 thousand soldiers' lives. More died in an hour in some of our Civil War battles.

OK, so you are suggesting military incursions into Syria to take out the outposts and the infrastructure that support the terrorists going into iraq. I can live with that.

I have no objection to that but it should not be acknowledged. Chase these bastards down and kill them even if they cross that border sounds good to me. Ringing Iraq with dead terrorist bodies would be excellent.

"My only concern with your thinking is that the more logistics and maintenance we handle, the more convoys, the more down armored vehicles we have to man."

I share your concern in this regard. I suppose my thinking goes something like this: we could still have logistics and maintenance operations that were in essence, controlled by the US, but with Iraqi truck drivers. I realize this conceptualization is probably somewhat crude. Whether it can be refined into something better by someone who has more knowledge, I don't know.
