Might want to get an SKS too, and several hundred rounds of 7.62 x 39mm. I recommend the Sellier and Bellot hollow point (I don't think we'll care about the Geneva convention), good quality and cheap. And practice, a lot of the vermin are poor shots, they probably fire more rounds into the air than at a target range.

That is good advice. That person should also acquire a good 12-gauge pump. No need to go crazy with the high end autoloaders (Benelli, Franchi, et al, even though they are really nice). There are many robust models out there for really good prices.
