Al Qaeda vows embassies blitz

BAGHDAD: Iraq's most feared terror group yesterday warned foreign diplomats to flee the country after announcing it will put to death two kidnapped Moroccan Embassy employees.

Insurgents killed 20 people, including 11 Iraqi security troops and an American, in separate attacks around the country.

The warning came in a statement posted on an Islamist website in the name of Al Qaeda in Iraq, which also claimed responsibility for the July kidnap-slaying of two envoys from Algeria and one from Egypt as well as the abduction and beheading of many foreign hostages.

Another web statement attributed to Al Qaeda said the two Moroccans had been condemned to death. There was no indication that the sentence had been carried out.

The Al Qaeda threat appeared aimed at undermining support for the US-backed Iraqi government within the Arab and Islamic worlds. In addition to the Egyptian and Algerian diplomats, senior envoys from Pakistan and Bahrain escaped kidnap attempts in July.

Sophisticated technology and explosives to make improvised bombs killing US and other troops in Iraq are apparently entering the country virtually unhindered from Iran, a senior British general said last night.

We must be living in the Era of Neutered Governments. I don't think there's a single middle eastern government Al Qaeda hasn't attacked and yet they move at will within those countries. Weird.

The Underground Axis is beginning to fully surface. What looked like a few widely-spaced humps on a placid sea of tranquility, as the waves have begun undulate, came to each grow to larger and larger size, as greater portions of the humps began to emerge, until finally it become clear that they were not separate humps at all, but merely the surfacing of different portions of the same beast.
