There is no tax base from which to extract $ therefore there is no opportunity to siphon off funds to grease the palms of the local leftist political mafia. The obvious solution is to create a campaign to pressure the state or federal governments to send $ so that the local bottom feeders can maintain at least a semblance of their former lifestyles.

I don't think that Mayor Nagin, who has a home in Dallas and has his offspring enrolled in school there, will have to worry about a significant portion of the former population of New Orleans returning.

That portion would be those who willfully refuse to be employed. Not truly disabled people who need assistance but by their own will uneducated, unemployed, lazy "citizens" who behave as vampire bats...sinking their sharp teeth into the teats of various levels of government social pigs and sucking the blood out by the gallon.

A gang of these bloody folks will stay right here in Texas (and other states who were charitable). Not because they want to rebuild their destroyed lives but to attach themselves to their new host. You see there will be no more social programs for them in the big N.O. (which is what social services should have told them all along).

Mayor Nagin told the people of New Orleans that they were on their own months before the hurricane struck. He said then that there was no money, not that the city was broke or anything. It turns out that New Orleans did have a liquidity problem. Nagin jumped on a raft and rode out like the rest of the rats.

I feel terribly that New Orleans was destroyed and that hard working citizens lost their homes; however, New Orleans and the State of Louisiana new this potential disaster existed for decades. The state and city government brought this down on the heads of the residents.

I should not be held responsible for their irresponsibility.
