From the minute I heard they allowed her to be placed in State at the Capitol I could see what was coming.Did you notice that when the coffin was carried out of the Capital all pallbearers were black except one white token that carried the "back" of the coffin. There were no Asians, Indians, Hispanics.....just blacks and one token white.
One would have certainly thought that the semblance of the civil rights struggle would have been shared and shown by all races, not just black.

And how about that shameless Reverend Al impression by the most excellent Governor Jennifer "Really a White Lady" Granholm? I thought I would puke. Oh Jennifer...while you're there in Detroit why don't you get yourself a rat to gnaw those warts off your face. Call it urban renewal.

Don't these people know how to behave at a solemn occasion like a funeral?Funeral? Nah, those are political rallies. Look what they turned the New Orleans tragedy and deaths into. Look what they turned the 2000 military losses into. They are ghouls.

Anything that the Clintons, Jacksons, Farrakhans, Sharptons, etc. etc. attend is unworthy of comment. Unless, of course it is a funeral.......... hopefully their own.

I saw one blurb about her lying in State at the Capitol and thats all I really saw of the whole thing. In the real world pallbearers are usually family or close friends, perhaps he was one of these. I have no idea of the selection process, so I have no comment on it.

...Rosa Parks refused to leave her seat. And at great peril and risk... So, now tell me about it being a sham?
Rosa Parks was not the first.
The Montgomery Bus Boycott was planned by the NAACP in February 1955. It just required a test case to set it in motion. During 1955 several Negroes were arrested for refusing to give up their seats on Montgomery buses. There was Claudette Colvin in March 1955. But she was 15 and became pregnant and was considered unsuitable for the cause. Another was thought too Black. Parks was what was called "high yellow".
You can read about some of the others and their significance here:
BROWDER v. GAYLE: The Women Before Rosa Parks
What Parks did was right. But she was not distinguished in her actions above several others. She was chosen as a socially acceptable symbol and was a pawn advanced in front of the real players, E.D. Nixon in particular. And she was a convenient symbol, having been a secretary for the NAACP for ten years and not merely the simple seamstress she was presented as. (not mentioned in the above article but readily found elsewhere)
If Parks deserves to be remembered with a day in the Capitol rotunda, then so do all the others. (Colvin is 64 and still alive.)

Hey goldstategop, I agree with you 100%. That aside, obviously you watched the last Boston Legal. As much as I have enjoyed it in the past, the last one will be my last one.
They went overboard with their anti-conservatism, anti-Bush/Iraq attack, and christian bashing. What a shame.

Excellent data! You are right about the others before Rosa Parks. I remember hearing about these stories. I was in another country, and my parents did a good job of keeping us informed about the past, the current events in the US. As a child, I was solidly for those who marched, pre-Rosa Parks. I wanted to stand right at their side.
But you are also right about the marketing "package".
Not to change the subject, but it does bring the Harriet Miers event to mind:
Dems demanded a "female" package. President Bush offered them one. Repubs argued that one with Constitutional Law and Merit would be a far better choice for the position. Dems went hysterical. And I praise Laura Bush. lol.

But... hold on. For this to have worked as a "scam", the white man ordering Rosa Parks to "move", was either a well-researched/studied character, or, in fact, a part of the "scam" himself. What do you think about this?

This was the first "boston legal" I saw. I think what made it a "not-so-good" episode, was the Judge's personal comments. I think he should have "recused" himself in this regard. And gone to the obvious: "Whether I, personally, agree or disagree with this WOT, we are indeed at war. Your brother did his duty. Your brother was a noble man. May his soul rest in peace." And then gone to the legalisms, as he did. two cents comment, here...
See, in that scene, the camera FOCUSED on the Judge's tie.. BOLD RED WHITE AND BLUE.. and then the "anti-war" personalisms, and then his "constitutional law" gaveling.
Frankly, I found it to be a cheap "visual/script" trick. Oh well...

I didn't say it was a scam. You did.
I called Rosa Parks a myth and she was.
