This is why my contempt for the MSM has never been more intense. They have run away from this potentially major story simply because Wilson provided them with a version of events that suited their anti-Bush agenda. The MSM have never challenged Wilson's spin - and/or the media's version of his spin - despite overwhelming evidence that his spin was - in all essential elements - false, and deliberately false:

Wilson was a WMD "expert" and a logical choice for the Niger assignment - false.

Plame had no role in getting Wilson the assignment - false.

Cheney sent Wilson to Niger - false.

Wilson's findings totally undermined the idea that Iraq was seeking uranium from Niger - false.

The administrations's claims about the Iraq/Niger uranium connection were either intentionally or unintentionally based on forged documents - false.

Wilson debunked - or even saw - the forged documents - false.

Cheney read Wilson's report - false

Cheney tried to suppress Wilson's report - false.

Wilson's report contained major new findings which were widely circulated throughout the CIA - false.

Cheney tried to "punish" Wilson by "outing" Plame - false.

All of these elements are false, yet they are now believed by millions of Americans because of the MSM's handling of this story. Moreover, the MSM have suppressed the fact that Wilson's story was leaked to the press and embellished more than a year after his trip, at EXACTLY the same time he joined forces with the Kerry campaign. The suppression of such a blatant political motive would NEVER be allowed to remain hidden if this were a Republican criticizing a Democratic administration.
