I wonder about this, though...did the parents speak with the teachers or administrators at the start of the term with regard to what subjects they felt were "off limits"? That's what I do. My kids' teachers know that there are a few topics which will not be taught to my children--not in school, that is. I've discussed it with the principal as well. So far, it is working out fine. If I ever find out that the school has not honored this request, there will be hell to pay.

Kind of what I suspected. I just read the rest of the article and no mention was made of the parents in question ever addressing the issue of "taboo" subjects until after the fact. Not a shining example of proactive parenting.
