Remember when they wouldn't let us use their country to invade Iraq? If they had, there would be more US help right now due to bases around the southern border of Turkey.

The chief casualty of Washington's failure to eradicate PKK safe havens in Iraq or seal the Iraqi border will not be whatever remains of the U.S.-Turkish strategic alliance.

We had that opportunity to do that during the opening days of the "battle for Iraq" but, alas, Turkey would not allow their NATO ally to enter Iraq from the North.
