Rita Braver examines the controversy over "intelligent design," on CBS News Sunday Morning.

There are questions, Braver observes, we cannot stop asking: Who are we? Where did we come from? Why are we here? There have never been any easy answers, or universal agreement.

Evolution predicts that simpler organisms will *need* simpler DNA chains, which is what has been found to be the case. Evolution also predicts that unnecessary genetic junk may build up and serve no purpose, which has also been found to be the case.

A few years back, genetecists removed several percent (20?) of the DNA from mice... the DNA they foudn to be "junk" DNA. The mice and their offspring seemed to get alogn just fine, last I heard. What this means is that there is more DNA than is needed in many species.

Me? No. But then, I'm not a planet with a few billion years on its hands.

funny, more the stuff is studied the old "junk" story seems to be just that a story, and functions are discovered. perhaps there are redundancies (ie like a gall blatter can be removed without detriment) but does serve purposes.

so its time that is needed make superior designs not intellect?

Define "superior designs" in this context. All a gene code cares about is replicating itself. By that token, bacteria are by far the supreme "design" on the planet.
