Different folks melt in the pot faster than others. Italians of old used to be Italians first for several generations. Not all, some. Irish too. Mexicans now. And so on. In many cases it takes more than one generation. I appreciate those who manage it in the initial generation but that's never been a requirement. I tend to agree you need to avoid the insular neighborhoods but again that's been the initial patter throughout our history. Again Italian, Irish, Mexican, Asian, etc. We are different for the Europeans and I do think the earlier post regarding their racist attitudes and our history of acceptance.

I agree that we do a much better job of assimilating other cultures than the Europeans do. But, because radical Islam is not a culture, but rather an ideology it cannot be assimilated. In retrospect, the comment I placed mentioning the individuals identification is irrelevant to my point that I tried to make.
The comment that truly disturbed me was the belief that Israel and America teamed up to destroy the World Trade Center so we could attack Arab countries. That is not a melting-pot issue, but an issue of hatred and lies.
