DUMPY FRUMP A FASHION DISASTER (why don't they leave the poor girl alone, already)
NY POST ^ | 11/2/05 | ORLA HEALY

REGAL ROSES: Bearing flowers, Charles and Camilla visit Hanover Square, where they left a tribute to British 9/11 victims. Photo: AFP/Getty

Diana would be amused. Her successor and former rival, Camilla Parker Bowles, failed spectacularly in her attempt to wow Manhattan society with her sartorial splendor last night.

Dressed in an unflattering Anthony Price navy velvet frock with a fussy oversized chiffon collar, the Duchess of Cornwall arrived at a chi-chi cocktail party looking more like an escapee from the choirboy pew of Westminister Abbey than the guest of honor.

Earlier, Camilla caused quite a stir when she chose an eye-popping raspberry suit for her visit to Ground Zero.

We predict an "off-with-their-heads" ruling to come down on the core team who were supposed to create the "Camilla Chic" glamour on this trip..... and "a secret dresser," whose identity is fast becoming a gag in fashion circles.

Diana is "frozen in time". No way Camilla, or anyone, can compete with that image. She shouldn't even try..

This is a most unfortunate choice of evening dress IMO. It looks flattering at the neckline, but the shape and fit are terrible.

Charles didn't do himself a favor when he allowed leaks about his intention to take Bush to the woodshed over our unkind behavior toward Muslims. (Evidently he'd prefer that we let them loot, pillage, and murder to their hearts' content). But then Charles is a chinless fool and Bush needs to make more speeches along the lines of his most recent...in which he called a spade a spade where Muslims/Islam/Islamofascists are concerned. I'd like to see him stand up and give a toast along those lines at whatever lunch/dinner he's giving in Charles' honor.

Am I the only person who thinks she is wearing her like Diana on purpose?
She doesn't have the shoulders for that navy dress.

I'm going to tick off some of the royal watchers, but I've always thought that Diana was nothing more than a party girl. Charles must see something in Camilla, he's been with her for ages. It's certainly not her looks.

Velvet is difficult to wear if you aren't rail thin. The length is what throws it off. Hitting the knee looks frumpy. It should have been longer. Better yet, she should have been wearing a dupioni or brocade.

Yes, I agree. Velvet is difficult to wear. I would like the dress much more if it were long and not velvet. The color is beautiful as is the neckline. I think she looks very good overall, but not in this dress.

I don't like the whole royal thing in general. We don't have or need royalty here, thank God, and I personally see no reason for it.

that being said, it is no business of anyone's, what someones taste in woman....or clothing is. I'm happy that they are happy. I would be happier if I were the one who had the royal fortune, but such is life.

Good luck to these 2.
