Democrats claimed victory for the American people Tuesday after the Senate Intelligence Committee agreed to continue an investigation into prewar intelligence claims made by the Republicans, the Senate minority leader said.
Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., forced the Republican-controlled Senate into an unusual closed session for more than two hours Tuesday, accusing Republicans of ignoring intelligence that President Bush used before invading Iraq.
A phase-by-phase investigation will resume, Reid announced after the secret session. It will be the second stage of a probe that Democrats have been pressing for for a year.
An appointed six-member task force three members from each party will review the committees progress and report back to their respective caucuses by Nov. 14.

Reid is a puppet. I just watched his antics on CSpan. When he unfolded that last paper during his speech, I thought "oh, he's got an email from Michael Moore" he's going to read.
But I swear, it must have been some type of instructions how to finish up his rant. As he continued, and he glanced at the paper, he started his arm waving, the finger pointing began..........
What a moron. Who elected that loser anyway?
What a loser.
Guess you missed that poll that posted the other day
only 28% believe or trust the Media/Press
Didn't Roberts also read a quote from the famous Rock-a-fellows e-mail?
Yes he did ..
I'm listening to his speech now. I like him...he's just telling it like it is!
I think that was a nice touch....lol
Wish he had time to read the entire thing. Into the record. On live TV.
Thank you.
He's from Nevada, and I saw that staged act also. I can't believe the dems think this action is going to win them points or elections.
Rush keeps saying the dems have no idea how they are perceived by the public. They live in their little DC bubble surrounded by their staff and sychophants - and how the public will view their actions never crosses their minds.
And the ReFlublican "leadership" stood by and watched from the wings.
Saved to my Iraq file and thank you!
Thanks for that link; and the comments by the Democrats following the signing of the Iraqi Liberation Act are just precious. And make all their complaints about the missing WMD just so much hogwash.
Because it'll be another Pyrrhic victory for the Dems.
Bingo give yourself a gold star. Delay it until after the midterm election and make another stunt to make the RNC look bad. You are the Freeper of this thread.
This stunt is still the top story today. It still has legs. We will see what happens. So far I have seen some pundits telling the truth about it and others carrying water for the RATS.
What the republicans should remember concerning this is that the RATS are going to amend the report. They stated that in their document that Hannity got hold of.
Republicans on the committee should make sure that their are no addendums or additional comments outside of the report.
"The GOP needs to get a lot smarter and start playing hardball on this. they consistently allow the Democrats to set the agenda and the tone, always having to play defense on issues that they ought to own."
The republicans should just come out and blame the Clintonistas and their dismantling of the CIA as the reason the intel was bad.
I still believe the intel was good and that the RATS stalling tactics gave Saddam the time to move everything to Syria. Perhaps it is now time for Bush to send Condi to Syria to have "the talk" with Assad.
Conventional wisdom is that the Democrats didn't get what they wanted out of the Fitzgerald indictments, so they staged this dog-and-pony show.
Do you believe polls? I'm sure Reid's little stunt fooled a bunch of people who already distrust anyone in power. Its main purpose was to re-focus media attention to its attacks on the Administration. It succeeded. I've just been watching the a.m. news shows and that's about all they're covering beyond the latest casualties in Iraq.
Nothing more than a publicity stunt - but some in this nation think the Rats hit a home run and got the Supreme out of the news cycle. Well did they?
