"Call it molasses- or maple syrup-like, the mysterious fragrance that confounded the noses of perhaps thousands of New Yorkers seven weeks ago returned to several spots in Manhattan Thursday. Once again, no one knew what it was. "

Maybe it's the cry wolf test. Several fake runs and then when the real sweet odor appears no one will pay attention.

Good thought. Maybe it IS the chemical used in explosives producing this odor.

Molasses or maple syrup like smell again? In Manhattan? Does anyone remember the post from Kingofhearts that mentioned a delivery to New York. Was it to the Manhattan area? I can't remember when I posted that map.
