FBI bungles Florida terrorism case says Justice Department

Snip: Tuesday, December 6, 2005; FBI agents botched a terrorism investigation in Florida and tried to cover up mistakes, said Justice Department investigators, who also concluded that a high-ranking official retaliated against the longtime undercover agent who pointed out the problems.

The findings were included in a draft report by the Justice Department's inspector general on a complaint made by former agent Michael German about an investigation in Orlando that he believed showed promising signs of a link between terrorism financing and the sale of illegal drugs.

Medical cost of illegal immigration: crisis for US hospitals

Snip: The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (emtala.com) requires all emergency departments to treat any person seeking help for a medical condition, which can range from a gunshot wound, to a traffic accident injury, to labor, to a splinter in a finger, to a cough. The emergency department must screen and treat the patient until ready for discharge, or stabilize the patient for transfer, regardless of ability to pay.

Uncompensated costs to hospitals and other healthcare providers run into the billions of dollars annually. States bordering Mexico take the biggest hits. The Federation for American Immigration Reform, or FAIR (fairus.org), estimates that last year, California lost $1.4 billion, Texas lost $850 million, and Arizona lost $400 million. Officials believe care to illegal immigrants make up 25 percent of those costs. If that is true, then hospitals serving the 24 US counties along the border ate $190 million in the year 2000, according to an oft-cited study by MGT of America (mgtamer.com) sponsored by the United States/Mexico Border Counties Coalition (bordercounties.org)

Group sees some gains in bioterrorism response, but gaps remain

Snip: All but a few U.S. states are ill-prepared to distribute federally stockpiled drugs and to test human samples for chemical agents in the event of a terrorist attack, a public-health advocacy group said today in an annual readiness report.

California Muslim fundraiser seeks release on deportation charges

Snip: LOS ANGELES - Lawyers for a top fundraiser for an Islamic charity allegedly linked to terrorism asked a federal magistrate to release him on bond Monday, arguing that his detention for 16 1/2 months with no end in sight as he fights deportation is a violation of law.

Dozens of members of the Southern California Muslim community turned out to show support for Abdel-Jabbar Hamdan, 44, a founder of a mosque in Anaheim who has lived in the area for some 20 years but never became a citizen. Some of his six children, born in the United States, were present at the hearing.

Accusations of terror links still follow Toledo Muslim charity

Snip: KindHearts of Toledo, Ohio, and the 24 other organizations identified by the Senate Finance Committee in 2003 remain under scrutiny by the Justice Department, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported Tuesday. The Justice Department declined to comment Tuesday to The Associated Press.

Since its founding in 2002, KindHearts had been getting $4 million in donations a year, mostly from U.S. Muslims looking for ways to fulfill their Quranic obligation to perform "zakat" and "sadaqa," two forms of charity. The Justice Department has rejected requests for a list of approved charity groups so Muslims can give to the poor without being suspected of terrorist ties.

Britain grapples with gruesome honour crimes

Snip: LONDON, Dec 7 Rukhsana Naz was 19 when her mother pinned her to the floor of their family house and her brother strangled her with a length of plastic cable.

Sahjda Bibi, 21, was preparing to celebrate her wedding when her cousin stabbed her 22 times with a kitchen knife. The father of 16-year-old Heshu Yones slit her throat because he disapproved of her Western habits and non-Muslim boyfriend.

This shameful ranting must stop

Snip: The terrifying demagogue George Galloway ascended the podium and exhorted the crowd to stand up for the redemption of the oppressed Muslim world or else the nation had better get ready for ‘rioting in every street in Britain.’.

The ‘slaughter in Palestine and Iraq’ being only part of the equation, Chechnya, Bosnia and Kashmir were also mentioned all day by every speaker including a crazed, chador-clad Yvonne Ridley, who at any moment I expected to self-immolate, such was her fury at the Zionists, the Americans and her fellow Britons. To my utter horror, she condemned the British police force as some form of fascist brigade in ‘jackboot Britain.’

To all of these exhortations came cries of ‘Alllahu Akhbar’ from the enormous, simmering crowd of what looked to me like the angriest gathering of young men and women with whom I have ever had the misfortune to be seated in my lifetime.

I am thinking and attempting to get the first cup of coffee down, yes, I have switched day and night.

When I read M.D.'s post above, I was hit by what Rush Limbaugh was talking about today, that there was bad CIA in the CIA, that wants to cut down President Bush.

When I think of Florida, I get a brain flutter that is about the same as saying Mena, Arkansas.

I think we will find the mafia, the communists, cuba, venezuela allmixed in with bad FBI, something along the line of bad FBI in Florida.

I can't think of the name of the lady who was in Immigration or the part that deals with imports/taxation, lol, for the world of me can't name the department, she is considered to be a tin foil, becuase she got fired for exposing her bosses and co workers for being involved in dope and smuggling.

Hes case has been denied, but she is still around and still attempting to get heard.

Calpernia might recall her name.

Florida is so evil that it is not surprising that there are bad FBI investigations.

Of course, there could have been more to the case, that was still being investigated, and needs to be secret.

Wasn't the case one that the liberals forced to come to trial?

If it was more of the ACLU crap, then it isn't a surprise to me that the trial went bad, we will see most of the cases that ACLU mess with, going bad for us, as they go to trial before we are ready and are meant to expose all that the Feds are working on, the the enemy, it has nothing to do with the person waiting for trial.

Need more coffee.
