Shoppers flee gunfire in Montreal

Snip: Sunday, December 04, 2005 A man fired at least five shots into an empty police cruiser parked outside The Bay on busy downtown Ste. Catherine St. yesterday afternoon, injuring two passers-by who were struck by stray bullets.

As the shots rang out, shocked Christmas shoppers screamed and ran for cover on the street adorned with festive lights, witnesses said. The victims, a 30-year-old man and a woman, 54, suffered injuries to the legs and were rushed to a nearby hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

Police described the shooter as a man in his 20s. He fled on foot."It's too early in the investigation to know why the man decided to open fire," said Montreal police Constable Salvatore Serrao.

Shortly after 4 p.m., a police cruiser was called to The Bay for an unrelated shoplifting incident. Two officers parked their car and entered the store. The suspect, clad in a black hooded shirt and army pants, approached the vehicle, yelled an unintelligible phrase and opened fire, possibly with a pistol, police said.

Montreal shooting.

I think we will see more of this, the jihadi of course, but so many "wanta be's" and for some reason, the stress of the Christmas season, appears to bring them out of the woodwork.
