It's a good idea to check your emergency medicine supplies periodically. Somehow our bandaid supply was pretty diminished and had to be replenished. Some of us began getting these supplies together well over a year ago if not longer. It doesn't hurt to re-examine the contents and make sure everything you'll need is included. I read that the common kitchen spice tumeric is great at stopping bleeding:
Snip: Sores/Wounds: Keep turmeric in your first aid kit! It acts quickly to help stop bleeding, plus because of its anti-bacterial quality, will help prevent infection. For cuts, pile on the turmeric, cover with gauze, and apply pressure to the area to stop the bleeding. Of course, serious wounds require immediate medical attention.
Just yesterday, I threw out a bottle of expired aspirin.
A tea bag works well to stop bleeding. The tannin in it is an astringent and is used for tanning leather. Use a wet tea bag. It works instantly. It stings too.

I use Peroxide, simply pour it on the wound, it cleans and stops bleeding, helps with the healing.
Learned that from a bird breeders book, as if the wrong feather gets pulled from a bird, they can bleed to death.
Have used it on myself, many others and on all animals that needed healing in the last 30 years.
