Ruth,

Yes, things have gone from bad to worse here in OR. Salem is known as the "Meth capital of the US". Which of course means massive amounts of property crimes. My GF works at a credit union dealing with fraud and bankruptcy. It seems like she is telling me about some new ID theft scheme just about every day.

The tweakers are desperate for money to buy that next hit. Hell, I just had someone break into my old pickup with 200000 miles and steal my old stereo (not a good one) and rip off the whole panel on the center of my dashboard. This happened at school in the middle of day in a busy parking lot. Idiot even left the screwdriver he used to pop my lock sitting on the seat. Of course, the cops could barely bother to care. They didn't even want the screwdriver as potential evidence.

I left Portland in May 1970 and swore to never cross the state line again, and have not.

Scott and 25 other kids had been robbed at gun point, for their lunch money, on the way to school........

for dope.

The police caught the man, he and his already serving time were in the same jail.

His mother, came to court and said it wasn't his fault, he had been on dope all night at a party and needed money for more, "yes, I am sure, as I was there the whole time".........

Bill had remembered it as it was in the 1930's and 40's, thought it would be a good place for teenagers.......it was not.

You would enjoy the program on 850koa.com, I get it on the radio, the host Jon Caldera is inviting calls on how to fix the Denver Police Department.

You can listen on the internet.

I think they have so many calls, that they cannot handle them all, and let the small stuff slide.

They do here also.

There is an Officer in Denver on the radio, he says the Denver Police Department is the same size today, as it was 30 years ago, and there are many times as many residents, as there was when his dad went to work for the police 30 years ago...

Now that is scary.

I know Las Vegas, only very recently, managed to get a tax passed, that will be used for hiring more Officers.

It was a nasty fight to get it passed. The Sheriff is KDWN once a month, on the early program and he sounds like he is a good Officer, well liked and not affraid to answer questions from the callers.

All these PC laws, have ham strung the police, in all departments, it has also forced them to hide the work they do and will cause trouble down the road, as now they have to hide to gather information........giving more power to the bad ones.

I am sorry that your truck was messed up, as I know what replacing all that wiring is going to cost.
