Text: Zawahiri berates Queen
The following is a transcript of a video message by Ayman al-Zawahiri, a deputy leader of al-Qaeda, in which he praises the London bombings on 7 July and calls England "one of the severest enemies of Islam". He also condemns British Muslim scholars for being in league with the Queen.
Like its glorious predecessors, this blessed raid was carried out thanks to the rush by the squads of Islam to achieve martyrdom in defence of their faith, sacred places, and security.
These squads race to gain the pleasure of their God, and come one after the other to punish the new Zionist-Crusader onslaught.
Rejoice, O people of the Crusader alliance at the catastrophes that the policies of Bush, Blair, and those who follow them have and will bring to you, God willing.
O people of the Crusader alliance, we have cautioned and warned you, but it seems that you want us to make you taste the horrors of death.
So taste some of what you have made us taste.
Did the lion of Islam, the holy warrior Sheikh Osama Bin Laden, may God preserve him, not offer you a truce if you left the land of Islam?
However, you demonstrated an adamant stand and pride made you commit sin.
Your foreign minister, Jack Straw, said that these proposals were worthy of contempt.
So taste the consequences of the arrogance of your governments.
Blair has brought his people destruction in central London and will bring more destruction, God willing, because he continues to take his people lightly and insists on treating them as idiots incapable of understanding.
