No doubt in my mind that you're right.

It appears that there are multiple global plots in the works.

No doubt in my mind that you're right.

Considering that even things like the Bali, London, and Madrid bombings usually have their planning started significantly in advance of the actual attack, it's practically a tautology that there are multiple global plots in the works - the only interesting questions are how many and how large.

There will continue to be such plots until such time as all of the terrorists have either been locked up (and the keys thrown away) or until they've all met their 72 virgins.

"There is no evidence that the weapons-grade plutonium has been stolen or diverted for illegal purposes"

I see, they just misplaced it or all the rocket engineers flunked math.

Los Alamos has been way out there in lax security and problems now for several yearss.

Very frightening story Cindy. I guess it's just the tip of the ICEberg!!

It's pathetic that this country cannot get a grip on illegals and that they are working in HIGH security sites!!. They need to be stopped before they get into these places. How many are not caught? Thanks to all the ICE agents out there who are doing a good job!

Ping in case you missed this.

The Al-Qaida Guide to Kidnapping

By Yassin Musharbash

Kidnapping is okay -- so long as it serves political or financial goals for a terrorist organization. It's also fine if it draws attention to a political issue like, say, Chechnya. You should also stay distant from hostages -- literally -- lest you get to close to them, both physically and mentally. These are just a few of the parting tips offered by a top al-Qaida strategists before he was killed in 2004.(snip)

Although I have no doubt that we have degraded AQ's ability to conduct future operations...I do worry about all the terrorists that have slipped across our borders (north and south) in the past several years and become sleepers. I worry about the potential for a WMD attack that may already be in motion and which recent killings of AQ leadership will probably not affect. Sleeper cells on our own home soil is like a fire and forget missile and I think the trigger got pulled months ago.

As to timing....

A friend of mine (retired 05 SpecOps) has speculated that the 2006 annual Haj (Pilgrimage to Mecca & Medina) may prove to be more volatile in terms of an attack. I kind of have this gut feeling that it's going to be big and before the New Year. The clock is ticking....
