There is a split in the pro-life community in Pennsylvania. It's a shame really. But there is a small, but vocal faction that will only support Constitution Party like candidates. They did not support Bush in his runs for president. In other words, they are windmill tilters who are more concerned about being right than saving babies or furthering conservative causes.
I have no doubt Panyard is a good man, in fact, he's probably closer to me on the issues than Swann. But Swann is ELECTABLE. He has said he is pro-life and pro-2nd ammendment. There will be some Blacks in Philly who would have voted for Rendell, but will just stay home if they are forced to choose between Rendell and Swann. There will be others who will in fact vote for Swann - folks who would never otherwise vote Republican. At this point in time Pennsylvania needs a conservative Republican.
If it turns out Swannie is a RINO giving lip service to conservatives, I will be happy to back Panyard, but in the meantime, I'm going with Swann.
Also, I think Swannie will help Santorum.
